Mike established Boyd Financial Services llc in 2004 and offers more than 25 years of experience in the financial industry. A Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner, he wants to look at your entire financial picture. This includes your goals, desires, fears, investments, taxes and insurances. His specialties include financial planning, asset management, investing and a strong focus on planning for businesses, estate, retirement, charitable giving and college.
Mike desires to become a lifetime resource and friend to his clients, utilizing his extensive training and knowledge to always act in their best interests. He is a firm believer in keeping pace with the financial services industry and has obtained several designations including the Chartered Financial Consultant®, Chartered Advisor for Senior Living®, Chartered Life Underwriter®. He currently holds FINRA Series 24, 6, 7, 63 and 65 securities licenses. As a member of the Certified Financial Planner Organization and the Financial Services Institute, he keeps up on the issues of the financial world for his clients.
Mike is President of the Board for the nonprofit organization The Fix Is In (offering low cost spay and neutering of pets) and the Hodag Sports Club. He is also a Board member and coach for The Rhinelander High School Trap team and helps out with a few other community organizations. Mike and his wife Cheryl have four children: Jessica, Ryan, Rachael and Michaela: and one grandson: Skyler. His hobbies include scuba diving, travel and shooting sporting clays.

Dave joined Boyd Financial Services as a financial services representative in July of 2010 and is committed to providing exceptional service and quality advice to his clients. His many specialties include: advisory accounts, annuities, mutual funds, retirement projections and analysis, disability income insurance, estate conservation and education funding strategies, long-term care insurance, on and off exchange individual and family health insurance, as well as Medicare options. Dave graduated from University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, minoring in psychology. He currently holds FINRA Series 6, 7, 63, and 65 licenses and is licensed to sell life and health insurance. Dave married his high school sweetheart, Miriah, on August 23, 2014. The two welcomed their first child, Scarlett Pearl and second, Windsor Rose. Dave is a member of the Rhinelander Athletic Booster Club. His interests include hunting, fishing, golfing, boating and the Green Bay Packers.
Executive Financial Assistant
Shannon joined Boyd Financial Services in September 2010 and provides more than 20 years of administrative experience. As the firm’s financial customer service specialist, she strives to make client experiences positive and stress free. Shannon helps facilitate online account access, appointment scheduling, client information changes, distribution requests, death claims, and general questions related to investments and insurance products. She is licensed to sell life, accident, and health insurance.
Shannon resides in Rhinelander with her significant other, Rich and their daughter, Willow. She enjoys a multitude of outdoor activities including traveling, kayaking, camping, rock climbing, power kiting, photography, hiking, biking, skiing, gardening, and family adventures.
Benefit & Health Insurance Agent
Penny joined Boyd Financial Services in 2016. Penny is an excellent resource helping clients work through the choices of both individual/family health and Medicare insurances year round. She is an asset to those both on and off exchange plans as well as offering Medicare Supplement, Advantage and Prescription Drug Plans. She may also assist with group benefits including health, dental, and Legal Shield. Penny is also serving a valuable role by providing service support to individuals, advisors, and insurance carriers in regards to address changes, billing questions, claims questions, and benefits. She also works with human resources departments on new hire and termination processes and assists employees with medical claim resolutions.
Penny resides in Rhinelander with her husband. She is originally from the Green Bay area and a graduate of Green Bay West High School. She earned her Life, Accident and Health Insurance License from North Central Technical College in April 2016. She has more than 25 years of experience in the administrative health care field.
Penny enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She also enjoys skiing, traveling, gardening, cooking, hiking and art. Penny is a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish.
Kayla joined Boyd Financial Services in 2018. She provides clients with service answers to their questions for both health and financial issues, helps with online access assistance and schedules appointments. Kayla has over 9 years of customer service experience. She is licensed to sell life, accident, and health insurance and she is also training to be a financial planner.
Kayla was born and raised in Rhinelander where she currently lives. She lived in Marquette, Michigan for a few years after high school to attend college at Northern Michigan University where she studied Illustration and Graphic Design. Kayla enjoys spending time with her friends, family & pets, kayaking, painting, going to festivals and drawing.
Sue joined Boyd Financial Services as a Receptionist in September, 2022.
Sue has spent the last 35+ years in the Human Resource Management/Customer Service field and thoroughly enjoys helping others.
Sue is originally from the Pewaukee area and moved to Minocqua in 2017 with her husband, where she enjoys spending time with their daughter, friends and family. Interests include the beautiful Northwoods and year-round outdoor activities, home decorating, cooking and baking.
